Healthy green smoothies are everywhere on the internet for good reason.

They’re easy, healthy, refreshing, delicious, nutritious, and filling. Oh and did I say delicious?

I’ve grown really attached to them this summer. They don’t require me to turn on my stove or chop anything up. All I do is throw stuff in a blender until it tastes good. Really, that’s all you need.

And cleaning the blender? It’s so easy! Throw in some hot water and dish soap, blend it and rinse.

I’ll admit, I was a little intimidated in the beginning because who believes that you can’t taste the spinach? Answer: those who’ve made them. If you use some great flavorings, the spinach taste fades away. It adds the bulk without the bitter taste.

Now…I can’t really vouch for other healthy green smoothies with kale or other leafy greens because I haven’t tried them. I would think that you’d need something really strong to overpower the bitterness of kale. But who knows, maybe all I need to do is try it!

This green monster is packed with protein and healthy fats to keep you full and satisfied. Not to mention that you feel like you’re on a tropical vacation while you’re drinking it!


Coconut Avocado Green Smoothie

Refreshing and filling healthy green smoothie, packed with protein and healthy fats
Recipe type: Snack, Smoothie
Serves: 1
  • 2 cups spinach
  • 5 ice cubes
  • 2 tbsp shredded, unsweetened coconut
  • ½ avocado, pitted
  • ½ cup water
  • 1.5 scoops vanilla protein powder
  1. Blend together the spinach, ice, coconut and avocado
  2. Add protein powder and blend to combine
  3. Pour in a pretty glass and drink up!
